General Hospital Tribute
The American Music Scene recognizes certain genres in the
Entertainment Industry that directly has an impact on the Music Trends in
American today. The first tribute is the Daytime Emmy Winning Affiliation of
GENERAL HOSPITAL, who recently celebrated their 40th Anniversary on the Soap
Opera Circuit. This has been a very unique classic series in that it has spawned
hit songs such as "Think Of Laura" by Christopher Cross (to commemorate Luke &
Laura) and "All I Need" by Jack Wagner onto the Top 40 lists just to name a few.
And countless times you may have heard popular tunes in the background of the
episodes. The current cast and storylines have been among the strongest and
deserve utmost mentioning. Of course, Sonny Corinthos, the mob leader in the
show, played by the incomparable Maurice Benard just earned a well deserved Emmy
last Friday night at Radio City Music Hall for Best Lead Actor.. The entire
staff of GH and the fans showed their appreciation by the loudest shriek of
congratulations in the whole evening for Maurice. And not to mention the great
Nancy Lee Grahn, who plays Alexis and just fell short of another well deserved
Emmy for Best Lead Actress in a Drama Series. The Music Scene felt Nancy Lee
should have taken the award. This show is superb and the writing team Robert
Guza, Jr. and Charles Pratt Jr. also won an Emmy for Best Writing Team. And
let's not forget the departed Vanessa Marcil (Brenda Barrett) who won an Emmy
for Best Supporting Actress. Other nominees included Robin Christopher (Skye),
Alicia Leigh Willis (Courtney), Chad Brannon (Zander) and the legendary Anthony
Geary (Luke). The musical talented Wallace Kurth (Ned Ashton) performed "When A
Man Loves A Woman" like Percy Sledge never did. This is undoubtedly the BEST
SOAP ON TV and will be for many years to come !!! CONGRATS GENERAL HOSPITAL
