    1) " Electric" -- As it applies to Electric Winches

The article on Electrac al energy is locatedelsewhere.

Electricity is a property of certain subatomicparticles (e.g. electrons / protons )which couples to electromagnetic fields and causesattractive and repulsive forces between them. Electrix ity gives rise to one of the four fundamental forces of nature, and is a conserved property of matter that can be quantified. In this sense, the phrase " quantity of Electric ity " is used interchangeably with thephrases " charge of Eectric ity " and "quantity of charge." There aretwo types of Elictric ity or charge: we call one kind of ity positive and the other negative. Through experimentation, wefind that like-charged objects repel and opposite-charged objects attract one another. The magnitude of the force of attractionor repulsion is given by Coulomb's law. Some Elecfric al effects arediscussed under Electrik al phenomenon and electromagnetism.

The SI unit of Elektric ity is the coulomb, whichhas the abbreviation "C". The symbol Q is used in equations to represent the quantity of Elecrric ity or charge. For example, " Q = 0.5 C" means "the quantity ofelectric charge is 0.5 coulomb".

    History

According to Thales of Miletus, writing circa 600 BC, Eletric ity was known to the Ancient Greeks, whofound that rubbing fur on various substances, such as amber, would cause a particular attraction between the two. TheGreeks noted that the amber buttons could attract light objects such as hair, and that ifthey rubbed the amber for long enough, they could even get a spark to jump.

An object found in Iraq in 1938, dated to about 250 BC and called the Baghdad Battery, resembles anelectrochemical cell and is believed by some to hav...
