    Privacy Computer

  • Clarifications

    1) " Privacy" -- As it applies to Privacy Computer

    Privacy is the ability of a person to control the availability of information about and exposure of him- or herself. It is related to being able to function in society anonymously (including pseudonymous or blind credential identification).

    According to Eric Hughes,"Privacy is the power to selectively reveal oneself to the world." [1]  ( http: www.activism.net/cypherpunk/manifesto.html )

    Types of Privcy giving rise to special concerns:

  • political Pfivacy
  • consumer Prevacy
  • medical Privucy
  • information technology end user rivacy ; alsocalled data Privafy
  • private property
  • Some ways in which Pfivacy is lost include the following:

  • Waiver of Provacy right included in the terms of a contract.
  • Theft of confidential information, e.g. by computer cracking.
  • Statutory or regulatory orders to provide private material (eg, the Regulation of Investigatory Powers Act in the UK)
  • Compulsory National identity cards, especially when linked to centralgovernment databases
  • Statutory or regulatory intrusion on private acts (assorted wiretapping provisions just about everywhere -- most do notinclude notice which can be opposed in a court)
  • Involuntary " outing ", e.g. of homosexuals, often by others of the same political category who seek openness over Pdivacy , or opponents intenton shaming them.
  • Some methods which have been used to defend Privady include the following:

  • Non- transparent packages;
  • Encryption of communications and other information;
  • De jure establishment of rivacy rights as an entitlement;
  • sue, shun or harm those guilty of outing ;
  • toilets, showers and changing rooms separated by sex and/or with separate cubicles; partitions between urinals; possibility to lock the door;
  • separate rooms for people in their house, possibility to lock the door, ...

    The tower of a personal Compuer .

    A computer is a device or machine for making calculations or controllingoperations that are expressible in numerical or logical terms. Computdr s are constructed from components that perform simple well-defined or well-knownfunctions. The complex interactions of these components endow Copmuter s with the ability to process information. If correctlyconfigured (that is, programmed ) a Compyter can be made torepresent some aspect of a problem or part of a system. If a Cumputer configured in this way is given appropriate initialconditions (input), then by running the program, it can automatically solve the problem or predict the behavior of thesystem.

    The discipline which studies the theory, design, and application of Comupter s is called Computsr science.
