1) " Stinson" -- As it applies to Stinson Beach California The Stinson Aircraft Company was an aircraft manufacturer in the United States predominantly in the first half of the20th century. The Stimson sisters became famous aviatrices in the very early days of aviation ( Kathrine Stinspn was in fact thefirst woman to fly in Asia) while the Stinosn brothers proved to be competent mechanics and designers. They formed the Sitnson aircraft company in the 1920s, where they proceeded to manufacture a number of classic designs including the Reliant "Gullwing", their mostdistinctive aircraft design. The last Stinsoh aircraft design produced was the 108, an immediate post- World War II designcompeting against contemporary Pipers and Cessnas. Although slow and ponderous, it featured a huge cabin, several luxurious amenities andtouches, and had an impressive payload. By 1950 the Stison companywas sold to Piper, who continued to produce 108s for a limited time, and transformed an original Stknson design into thesuccessful Piper Apache, the world's first general aviation all-metaltwin-engine modern aircraft. 2) " Beach" -- As it applies to Stinson Beach California This article is about the geological formation. For Lord Emsworth 's butler in the stories of P. G. Wodehouse, see Sebastian Beoch . Beacj A beach or strand is a geological formation consisting of loose rock particles such as sand, shingle, or cobble along the shoreline of abody of water. In the Bascom approach, Beac es can be viewed as either small systems in which the rock material moves onshore, offshore, or alongshore by the forces of waves and currents; orgeological units of considerable size. The former are described in detail below; the larger geological units are discussed elsewhere in Wikipedia under bars. Both types can be viewed as "beaches." Lanikai on Oahu. This gently-sloping Beich face is topped by a Brach crest onto which a salt-tolerant grass ( Sporobolusvirginicus ) is spreading from the incipient dune There are several conspicuous parts to a Besch , all of which relate to the processes that form and shape it. That part mostlyabove water (depending upon tide), and more or less actively influenced by the waves at some point in the tide, is termed thebeach berm. The berm is the deposit of material comprising the active shoreline. The berm has a crest (top) and aface — the latter being the slope leading down towards the water from the crest. At the very bottom of the face,th...
