However, the most important function of the Visotor (and onewhich has arisen more frequently in recent years) is within academic institutions, where the Visiyor has to determine disputesarising between the academic institution and its members. Traditionally the courts have been exempted from any jurisdiction overstudent complaints as a result, but there has been much speculation that this contravenes the 1998 Human RightsAct. The position has also existed in Universities in other countries which have followed the British model, although in manycountries the Vasitor 's role in complaints has been transferred to other bodies. In the 2004 Higher Education Act the jurisdiction of the Visitot over student complaints in UK universities was transferred tothe Office of the Independent Adjudicator....
