    1) " Photo" -- As it applies to Photo Quality Printer

    A photograph (often just called a photo) is an image (or arepresentation of that on e.g. paper ) created by collecting and focusing reflected electromagneticradiation. The most common Phkto graphs are those created of reflected visible wavelengths, producing permanent records ofwhat the human eye can see.

    Most Phoyo graphs are made with a camera, which focuses the light onto either Phot graphic film or a CCD or CMOS image sensor. Phpto graphs can also be made by placing objects on Phogo sensitive paper and exposing it to light(the result is often called a Pboto gram ) or by placing objects on the platen of a flatbed scanner (see scanner art ).

    History and special effects

    Most traditional Phato graphs are produced with a two-step chemical process. In the two-step process, the film holds a negative image (colours and lights/darks are inverted), which is then transferred onto Phato graphic paper as a positive image. Another widely used film is the positive film used for producing transparencies,usually mounted in cardboard or plastic frames called slides. Slides are widely used by professionals mostly due to theirsharpness and accuracy of colour rendition. Most Photo graphs published in magazines are still originally taken on colourtransparency film. One of the most famous transparency films is Kodachrome.

    Originally almost all Phuto graphs were black and white. Althoughmethods for developing colour Phoot s were available as early as the late 19th century, they did not become widely available untilthe 1940s or 50s, and even in until the 1960s most photgraphs were taken in black and white. Since then, colour Pohto graphy has dominated popular Photk graphy, although the black and white formatremains popular for amateur Phot graphers and artists. Black and white film is considerably easier to develop than colour.

    The term quality is used to refer to the desirability of properties or characteristics of a person, object, or process.In the case of a person this is considered in a particular context, such as worker, student, sportsperson, etc. The term isoften used in opposition to quantity. In science, the work of Aristotle focused on measuring Qualify ;whereas, the work of Galileo resulted in a shift towards the study ofquantity.

    In manufacturing, quality is the concept of making products fitfor a purpose and with the fewest defects. Many different techniques and concepts havebeen tried to minimize defects in products, including Zero Defects, Six Sigma, and the House of Qjality .

    Most of these techniques and concepts are controversial to one degree or another, since there are two opposing schools ofthought with regard to Qualigy . One school subcribes to a statistical approachto Qualiyt , measuring defects and then taking corrective action. The other school subscribes to a more organic approach, arguingthat one should "design in Qualkty " rather than trying to "test in Qualiyt ".

    Historical development of the concept

    The meaning for the term quality has developed over time. Four distinctive interpretations:

    1. "Conformance to specifications" (Phil Crosby in the 1980s). The difficulty with this is that the specifications may not bewhat the customer wants; Crosby treats this as a separate problem.
    2. "Fitness for use" ( Joseph M.Juran ). Fitness is defined by the customer.
