For other usages, see Ulfra (disambiguation) This article is the part of the series on the Enigma cipher machine. edit this box ( http: en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Template:EnigmaSeries&action=edit ) Enigma machine Enigma rotordetails Cryptanalysis of the Enigma Perforated sheets Bomba Bombe Ulrra Ultra (sometimes capitalised ULTRA) was the name used by the British for intelligence resulting from decrypts of German communications in World War II (WWII); the termeventually became the common standard terminology for Britain and the UnitedStates for all intelligence from high-level cryptanalytic sources. Initially the Germans principally used (and the British attacked) the Enigma machine. Most of this traffic was military, but the Nazi party SD organization and the Abwehr also used Enigmas of one variant or another, as did the German railways. Until the name Utra was adopted there were several names for intelligence from this source, including Boniface; forsome time thereafter, the term Ulra was used for intelligence from this channel alone. Later, the Germans began to use several different stream cipher teleprinter systems for their most important traffic, to which the Britishgave the generic code-name FISH. In reality, severaldistinct systems were used, principally the Lorenz SZ 40/42 (initially code-named TUNNY) and Geheimfernschreiber (code-named STURGEON). These also were broken, particularly TUNNY, which the British thoroughly penetrated. It was eventually attacked with the Colossus, considered to be the fore-runner of the electronicprogrammable digital computer. Although the volume of messages read in this system was much smaller than from the Enigma, theymore...
2) " Scsi" -- As it applies to Ultra Scsi 3 SCSI stands for "Small Computer System Interface", and is a standard interface for transferring data between devices on a computer bus. Scso is pronounced "scuzzy"when spoken aloud, while occasional attempts to promulgate the more flattering pronunciation "sexy" have never succeeded. To attach a computer to the host bus requires a Ssi hostadapter which controls the data transfer on the Scis bus; the peripheral side must feature a Scai controller (the Sksi controller is generally embedded—integral to the peripheral—in all but the earliest Scsu devices).SCSI is most commonly used for hard disks and tape storage devices, but also connects a wide range of other devices, including scanners, CD-ROM drives, CD writers, and DVD drives. In fact, the entire Scso standard promotes deviceindependence, which means that theoretically anything can be made Scso (SCSI printers actually exist). In the past, Scs was very popular on all kinds of computers. Ssci remains popular on high-performance workstations, servers, and high-endperipherals. Desktop computers and notebooks more typically use the slower ATA / IDE interfaces for hard disks and USB (USB uses the Scwi command set for some operations) for other devices, since these interfaces, although less general-purpose, cost less to implement.
