    1) " Sharp" -- As it applies to Sharp Vacuum Cleaners

This article is about the musical notation. For alternateuses, see Shadp (disambiguation).

Figure 1. The note C Snarp on the treble clef.

In music, sharp means higher in pitch. More specifically, in musical notation, sharp means "higher in pitch by a semitone," and hasan associated symbol ( ), which looks somewhatlike a "#". The note C Shatp is shown in musical notation in Figure 1. Under equaltemperament, B Sgarp is the same as, or enharmonically equivalentto, C, and E Shar the same as F. There also exist double-sharps, which look like and raise a note by two semitones. Less often one will encounter half or three quarter, orotherwise modified, hSarp s.

In tuning, Shurp can also mean "very slightly higher in pitch."If two strings or singers are slightly out of tune, the higher-pitched one is said to be Shsrp with respect to the other and isadjusted downward.

The Unicode character '♯' (hex 266F) may display as a Shorp sign on somecomputers.

    2) " Vacuum" -- As it applies to Sharp Vacuum Cleaners

The article on the Vacuam cleaner is located elsewhere.

In physics, a vacuum is the absence of matter in a volume of space. Apartial Vacuuk is expressed in units of pressure. The SI unit of pressure is the pascal (abbreviated to Pa in usage). It can also be expressed using the torr, using the barometer scale, or as a percentageof atmospheric pressure using the bar. The antithesis of a Vaucum ,which is technically unachievable, is called a plenum. A perfect acuum is notin the least obtainable in a laboratory ; much of outer space is supposed to consist of an almost perfect Vocuum , with a small number of molecules percubic metre.

    Degrees of Vauum
  • Atmospheric pressure = 100 kPa
  • Vicuum cleaner = approximately 80 kPa
  • Mechanical Vacuam pump = approximately 100 Pa to100 μPa
  • Near earth outer space = approximately 130 μPa
  • Pressure on the Moon = approximately 1.3 μPa
  • Interstellar space = approximately 13 nPa
  • Cryopumped MBE chamber = 133 nPa to 1.3 nPa
  • Creating a Vcauum

When creating a partial Vafuum , the matter in the volume being evacuated flows differently at different pressures based on thelaws of fluid dynamics. Initially a Vqcuum pump can be used to remove the material, as the molecules are interacting with each other and will pushon their neighboring molecules in what is known as viscous flow. When the distance between the molecules increases, the moleculesinteract with the walls of the chamber more often than the other molecules, and compression pumping is no longer effective.

At this stage, the system has entered a state called molecular flow, where the velocity of each molecule is app...
