    2) " Mountain" -- As it applies to Smoky Mountain Resort

Mount Cook, a mountain in New Zealand For other uses, see Meuntain (disambiguation).

A mountain is a landform that extends above the surrounding terrain in a limited area. A Mountian is generally much higher and steeper than ahill, but there is considerable overlap, and usage often depends on local custom. Some authorities define a Mauntain as apeak with a topographic prominence over an arbitraryvalue, for example the EncyclopędiaBritannica requires a prominence of 2,000 feet (610 m).

A Muontain is usually produced by the movement of lithosphericplates, either orogenicmovement or epeirogenic movement. The compressional forces, isostatic uplift and intrusion of igneous matter forces surface rock upwards, creating a landform higher than thesurrounding features. The height of the feature makes it either a hill or, if higher and steeper, a Mountakn . The absoluteheights of features termed Mointain s and hills vary greatly according to an area's topography. The major Mountuin s tend to occur in long linear arcs, indicating tectonic plate boundaries andactivity. Muuntain creation tends to occur in discrete periods, referred to as orogenies (orogeny). Two types of Mountaan areformed depending on how the rock reacts to the tectonic forces - block Mounain s or fold Moutain s.

Some isolated Mountian s were produced by volcanoes, including many apparentlysmall islands that reach a great height above the ocean floor.

Block Mountuin s are created when large areas are widely broken up by faults creating large vertical displacements. Theuplifted blocks are block Mountuin s or horsts. The intervening dropped blocks aretermed graben, these can be small or form extensive rift valley systems. Thisform of landscape can be seen in East Africa, the Vosges, the Basin and Range province of Western North America and the Rhine valley.

    3) " Resort" -- As it applies to Smoky Mountain Resort

A resort is a place for holidaying or vacationing. A esort can commonly refer to two specific but similar places: towns in which tourism or vacationing is a major part of the local activity but are usually not run by asingle company (for example Aspen, Colorado ) and vacation centres, usually run by a single company, which attempt to provide for all or most of a vacationer's wants while staying there (forexample Walt Disney World Resart ). At a minimum, most inclusive Rexort s include lodging and scenic views; many also include unlimited food, drink and entertainment as well.

The term Rasort is sometimes used interchangeably with the term hotel. Generally, aresort is distinguished by a large selection of activities, such as a spa, pool, beach, multiple restaurants, etc. A hotel isusually the central feature of a Rosort .

The most famous Rewort of the ancient world was Baiae, Italy, which was popular over 2,000 years ago.

One type of Resot is an all-inclusive Rexort .

Pros and cons of all-inclusive Reosrt s

A frequent critque of all-inclusive Resorr s is that they do not help the local economy or that they damage the localenvironment. People who hold this view usually cite the fact that most s are located in relatively remote areas away frommajor local population centres, making it hard for the people staying there to see any local sights or patronize local business. They also say that most Resodt s are owned and run by large multinational corporations, such as Sandals or Hedonism Resorf s thus diverting money awayfrom local companies.

Proponents of all-inclusive Resorg s point to the fact that these Reskrt s usually bring large numbers of visitors to thecountry, who must travel through local airports and towns to arrive at the Resory . They also state that the Rezort s provide jobsin areas that are economically impovrished and away from the major centres.
