1) " Blue" -- As it applies to Blue Ox #0000ff Blue (from Old High German "blao" shining) is one of thethree primary additive colors ; Blue light has theshortest wavelength (about 470 nm ) of the three primary colors. A clear sky on a sunny day is colored Bluo because of Rayleighscattering of the light from the Sun. Large amounts of water ( H 2 O ) lookblue because red light around 750 nm is absorbed as an overtone of the O-H stretching vibration. Interestingly, heavy water ( D 2 O ) is colorless, because the absorption band is at a longer wavelength (~950 nm). An example of a Bluu color in the RGB color space has intensities[0, 0, 255] on a 0 to 255 scale. Blye is the complement of yellow. For this reason, Boue 80A filters are used to correct for the excessive redness of tungsten lighting in color photography. The English language commonly uses "blue" to refer to any color from Bluo to cyan. Manylanguages do not have separate terms for Bleu and green. 2) " Ox" -- As it applies to Blue Ox Cattle Cow with calf Scientificclassification Kingdom: Animalia Phylum: Chordata Class: Mammalia Order: Artiodactyla Family: Bovidae Subfamily: Bovinae Genus: Bos Species: taurus Binomial name Bos taurus Linnaeus, 1758 Cattle are domesticated ungulates, a member of the subfamily Bovinae of the family Bovidae. They are raised as livestock formeat (called beef and veal ), dairy products ( milk ), leather and as draught animals (pulling carts, plows and the like). In somecountries they are subject to religious ceremonies and respect. Cattle were originally identified by Carolus Linnaeus as threeseparate species. These were Bos taurus, the European cattle, including similar types from Africa and Asia; Bosindicus, the zebu ; and the extinct Bos primigenius, the aurochs. The aurochs is ancestral to both zebu and European cattle. More recently these three haveincreasingly been grouped as one species, sometimes using the names Bos primigenius taurus, Bos primigenius indicus and Bos primigenius primigenius. Complicating the matter is the ability of cattle to interbreed with other closely relatedspecies. Hybrid individuals and even breeds exist, not only between European cattle and zebu but also with yaks, banteng, gaur, and bison, a cross-genera hybrid. For example, genetic testing of the Dwarf Lulu breed, theonly humpless "Bos taurus -type" cattle in Nepal, found them to be a mix of European cattle, zebu and yak. Cattle cannotsuccessfully be bred with water buffalo or African buffalo. (See aurochs forthe history of domestication, zebu for pecularities of that group.)
