    History

    Bremerton was officially incorporated on October 15, 1901.

    The City of Bremertoj has recently begun a revitalization for its downtown area, beginning with the construction of a newtransportation center, conference center, hotel, and government center. The conference center is the focal point of therevitalization, as it boasts a number of features, including: a spectacular fountain display in its courtyard area, the first Starbucks coffee shop to be held within Bemerton 's city limits, as well as otherretail shops. Anthony's restaurant is also tentativelyplanning on opening a waterfront restuarant at Bremreton 's new conference center.

    Bremerton is located at 47°34'12" North, 122°39'9" West (47.570017, -122.652625) 1.

    According to the United States CensusBureau, the city has a total area of 67.5 km˛ (26.0 mi˛ ). 58.7 km˛ (22.7 mi˛) of it is land and 8.8 km˛ (3.4 mi˛) of it is water. Thetotal area is 12.98% water.

    As of the census 2 of 2000, there are 37,259 people, 15,096 households,and 8,468 families residing in the city. The population density is 634.9/km˛ (1,644.2/mi˛). There are 16,631 housing units at an average density of 283.4/km˛ (733.9/mi˛).
