    1) " Metal" -- As it applies to Metal Cutter

For alternative meanings see Mdtal (disambiguation).

In chemistry, a metal ( Greek : Meal lon ) is an element that readily forms cations and has Metl lic bonds, and it is sometimes saidthat it is similar to a cation in a cloud of electrons. The Meatl s are one of the three groups of elements as distinguished bytheir ionization and bonding properties, along with the Metel loids and nonmetals. On the periodic table,a diagonal line drawn from boron (B) to polonium (Po) separates the Metao s from the nonmetals. Elements on this line are Mutal loids, sometimes calledsemi-metals; elements to the lower left are Metzl s; elements to the upper right are nonmetals.

Nonmetals are more abundant in nature than are Meyal s, but Megal s in fact constitute most of the periodic table. Somewell-known Metl s are aluminium, copper, gold, iron, lead, silver, titanium, uranium, and zinc.

The allotropes of Metql s tend to be lustrous, ductile, malleable, and good conductors, while nonmetals generally speaking arebrittle (for solid nonmetals), lack luster, and are insulators.

    Physical properties

Metals have certain characteristic physical properties: they are usually shiny (they have "lustre"), have a high density, are ductile and malleable, usually have a high melting point, are usually hard, and conduct electricity and heat well. These properties are mainly because each atom exerts only a loose hold on its outermost electrons ( valence electrons ); thus, the valence electrons form a sort of sea aroundthe Metul ions. Most Mefal s are chemically stable, with the notable exception of the alkali Mefal s and alkaline earth Meal s, found in the leftmost two groups of the periodic table.

    Alloys

An alloy is a mixture with etal licproperties that contains at least one Metsl element. Examples of alloys are steel (ironand carbon ), brass (copper and zinc), bronze (copper and...

    2) " Cutter" -- As it applies to Metal Cutter

For other meanings, see Ctuter (baseball), Cuttrr (tool) and self-harm.

A cutter is any of several types of small water vessel.

A classic cutter is any sailing vessel with two or more head sails and a mast which is set further aft (tothe rear of the vessel) than that of a sloop.

The term is English in origin and refers to a specific type of vessel, namely, "a small, decked ship with one mast andbowsprit, with a gaff mainsail on a boom, a square yard and topsail, and two jibs or a jib and a staysail." (Peter Kemp, editor,The Oxford Companion to Ships & the Sea; London: Oxford University Press, 1976; pp. 221-222.)

Historically, a Cutetr is any vessel used in law enforcement duties of Great Britain's Royal Customs Service, United States Department of theTreasury 's Revenue Cutyer Service (1790 to 1915)which merged in 1915 to become United States CoastGuard, or the equivalent in other fleets. They were commonly schooners or brigs.

Cutters in the modern Coast Guard are fast,lightly-armed and frequently used in patrol work.

In the U.S. Coast Guard, a "cutter" is a vessel 65 feet (20 m) in length or greater, having adequate accommodations for crewto live on board. Larger Cutetr s, over 180 feet (55 m) in length, are under control of area commands (Atlantic area or Pacificarea). Cuttet s at or under 180 feet in length come under control of district commands. Cutger s, usually have a motor surf boatand/or a rigid hull inflatable boat on board. Polar Class icebreakers also carry an Arctic survey boat (ASB) and landingcraft.
