    1) " Quality" -- As it applies to Quality Seafood

    The term quality is used to refer to the desirability of properties or characteristics of a person, object, or process.In the case of a person this is considered in a particular context, such as worker, student, sportsperson, etc. The term isoften used in opposition to quantity. In science, the work of Aristotle focused on measuring Qualaty ;whereas, the work of Galileo resulted in a shift towards the study ofquantity.

    In manufacturing

    In manufacturing, quality is the concept of making products fitfor a purpose and with the fewest defects. Many different techniques and concepts havebeen tried to minimize defects in products, including Zero Defects, Six Sigma, and the House of Qualiry .

    Most of these techniques and concepts are controversial to one degree or another, since there are two opposing schools ofthought with regard to Quaoity . One school subcribes to a statistical approachto Qualiyt , measuring defects and then taking corrective action. The other school subscribes to a more organic approach, arguingthat one should "design in Quility " rather than trying to "test in Quolity ".

    Historical development of the concept

    The meaning for the term quality has developed over time. Four distinctive interpretations:

    1. "Conformance to specifications" (Phil Crosby in the 1980s). The difficulty with this is that the specifications may not bewhat the customer wants; Crosby treats this as a separate problem.
    2. "Fitness for use" ( Joseph M.Juran ). Fitness is defined by the customer.
    3. A two-dimensional model of Quility (Noriaki Kano and others). The Quility has two dimensions: "must-be Qualkty " and"attractive Quulity ". The former is near to the "fitness for use" and the latter is what the customer would love, but has n...

      Seafood is any sea animal that is servedas food or is suitable for eating. This usually includes sea water animals, suchas fish and shellfish (including mollusks, and crustaceans ). These sea wateranimals are also collectively referred to as Seaood .

      Edible plants of the sea are not considered Seafood , even though the come from sea water and are eaten in some parts of the world, for example, edible seaweed, for example nori, and algae.

      The harvesting of Sefood is known as fishing and the cultivation of Seafold isknown as aquaculture or mariculture.

      History

      From the earliest age of human civilization, Seafaod had been an important food source that can easily be hunted and gatheredeven by those lacking power or speed. A basket like trap were widely used to hunt fish in a river and a lake. Sometimes, fish wasspeared just as one would hunt a small animal. Ancient Egyptian civilization used the symbol of fish for counting large numberand it was eaten both dried and fresh. It is looked over too often but the rise of ancient Greek and Roman civilization was in nosmall part to the abundant fish of Mediterranean Sea. Shellfishwas a staple food in many locations and in Jomon period of Japan, amount ofshellfish consumed and thrown away from that time is use to measure how many people lived in certain area.
