ADULT ALTERNATIVE REVIEW
By John Rose

U2

"ALL THAT YOU CAN'T LEAVE BEHIND" (Interscope)

RATINGS are 1 (Weakest) to 5 (Strongest) (+ Push, -Pull)

1) "BEAUTIFUL DAY" (3+) This one grew on me over time. Big exposure
in the summer games. Still not a blockbuster.
2) "STUCK IN A MOMENT WITH YOU" (4-) "Gospelesque" melody getting
airplay on the AA Stations. Single possibility.
3) "ELEVATION" (2) Interesting guitar synthesizer interplay. Not a
standout.

4) "WALK ON" (4+) Better than "Beautiful Day".Great intro. Sounds
like Vintae U2- Poetic finish!!

5) "KITE" (4-) Dreamy guitar work by Edge .Catchy refrain.
Possible"sleeper"
6)"IN A LITTLE WHILE" (2+) Getting some airplay in the AA formats- Toned
down basic instrumentals
7) "WILD HONEY" (3+) A lounge-like melody. (K.D.Lang would be 70ish
proud. Bono plays the "crooner". Creative but not a charter.
8) "PEACE ON EARTH" (2+) A lullaby. Nice to hear acoustical guitars.
9) "WHEN I LOOK AT THE WORLD"(2) Surreal. Guitar effets nothing special.
10)"NEW YORK" (3)- Somewhat aimless untl the monstrous refrain
(Booming guitars/drums) A musical melting-pot.
11) GRACE" (2) Down tempo. Interesting synthesizer work by Eno

(Look for Robbie Williams next week)

The reaction to John Rose's reviews has been astounding. Look for more in the upcoming weeks from Stevie Nicks, Robbie Williams, Dido, Train,Coldplay, David Gray, Shawn Colvin, Josh Joplin Group, Jonatha Brooke and more.
