Trouble In Shangri-La (Reprise)
RATINGS (1-5)
Weakest to Strongest (+Push,-Pull)
1. Trouble
In Shangri-La (3) Nice vocal layering on the chorus. An intriguing intro
song.
2. Candle Bright (3-) Melodic interchange between the piano and mandolin.
Reminds me
of Bon Jovi's "Wanted Dead Or Alive."
3. Sorcerer (3-) Stevie shows an impressive vocal range on this one.
4. Planets Of The Universe (4) The chorus is the Hook ! Should be the
single.
5. Everyday (4-) Another possible single.
6. Too Far From Texas (4+) Possible sleeper hit. My favorite. Guitar driven
-nice to hear Mike Campbell from Tom Petty's Heart Breakers and Waddy
Wachtel, Jackson Browne and Warren Zevon
7. That Made Me Stronger (4) Catchy chrous. Interesting drum
loops are a stand out that give it a muddy tempo.
8. It's Only Love (4-) A pretty song written by Sheryl Crow.
9. Love Changes (3-) Stevie's move into the new millenium w/ hip hop programming.
10. I Miss You (2) Stevie's more into easy listening with orchestral accompanyment.
May hit easy listening formats.
11. Bombay Sapphires (2) A generic filler.
12. Fall From Grace (2+)Nice drum work.
13. Love Is (3) Nice to hear a simple piano/vocal production. Not a bad
finale.
OVERALL RATING:
3.5
OVERALL COMMENTS:
Sharon Celani's and Lori Nicks' backing vocals Build a strong platform
for these songs. Pleasantly surprised. Didn't expect such a strong album.
