"Break The Cycle" (Flip/Elektra/EEG)

RATINGS are 1 (Weakest) to 5 (Strongest) (+ Push, - Pull)

1. "OPEN YOUR EYES" (3-) Great back beat. Brutal lyrics. Head on
rock interspersed with quieter moments. AN ALBUM HALLMARK !!

2. "PRESSURE" (3) Ozzy would be proud of this one. Guitar driven
all the way a la Alice In Chains.

3. "FADE" (4) Kick-butt songmanship. Reminds me of Tool. Wicked
hook !!

4. "IT'S BEEN AWHILE" (4+) An awesome reading of a beautiful song. A radio
darling. Balladesque rock.

5. "CHANGE" (3) More great back-beat. The percussion rocks ! Distorted vocal
section is eerie.

6. "CAN'T BELIEVE" (2+) Shades of the Foo Fighters .More eerie vocal distortion.

7. "EPIPHANY" (5) My sleeper pick! I truly hope this one gets airplay.
A great marching beat. Searing lyrics.

8. "SUFFER" (5-) The chorus and refrain feed off each other than the hook
blows you away.

9. "SAFE PLACE" (3) Great vocals. I like the funky bass work. Nice changeup
midway through.

10. "FOR YOU" (3+) Riveting guitars. I like the programming strong vocals
too.

11, "OUTSIDE" (5) Hark! I hear acoustic guitars !! Mesmerizing hook.
A radio favorite.

12. "WASTE" (2+) Kind of sounds like a mishmash of all the other songs.
Here's where the advisory kicks in.

13. "TAKE IT" (2+) Sounds like an Ode to Black Sabbath. (Could a guest
fill in by Tony Iommi be far behind ??

OVERALL COMMENTS: This album is chock full of great songs. It's hallmark
Is thrashing distorted guitars followed by mellow interludes. Check one up
