DIAMOND RIO

(click above to purchase)
"One More Day"(CD)(Arista Records)

RATINGS are 1 (Weakest) to 5 (Strongest) (+ Push, - Pull)

1. "THAT"S JUST THAT" (2+) Rock-a-billy all around. Nice guitar and mandolin work.

2. "ONE MORE DAY" (4) Beautiful melody with a catchy refrain. Reminds me of some of Poco's work ("Wildfire").

3. "SWEET SUMMER" (4+) Powerful hook. More great mandolin work. My favorite.

4. "I'M ALREADY GONE" (4) Great vocal tracking. Another possible sleeper hit.

5. "I COULD DO IT WITH MY EYES CLOSED" (3+) Again, the vocals jump out at you. Nice to hear the honky tonk piano.

6. "'TIL THE HEARTACHE'S GONE" (2) Ballad of love lost, Kind of "schmaltzy".

7. "HERE I GO FALLING" (4) Probably the best songwriting. I like the downward chord progression (then upward).

8. "I THINK I LOVE YOU" (2+) More traditional country music (nice to hear "old-time" country).

9. "HEARTS AGAINST THE WIND" (3) Has a bluegrass feel. Nice to hear longer playtime.

10. YOU MAKE ME FEEL" (4) Kick-butt hook. My second choice for a single.

11. "THE LOVE OF A WOMAN" (2) Sounds like an extension of other tracks on this collection.

12. "I'M TRYING" (3) Nice duet. Original song writing.

13. "STUFF" (2) Kind of a change-up song. Funky percussion feel.

OVERALL COMMENTS: Nice to hear the mandolin used so prominently. This offering has a number of strong tracks.

OVERALL RATING OF 4-
