NICKLEBACK
"Silver Side Up"
(Interscope Records)

1. "NEVER AGAIN" (2+) Driving bass line and percussion.
Vocals remind me of 38 Special.

2. "HOW YOU REMIND ME" (3+) A lighter acoustical intro.
Would fit in nicely in the "Alternative" playlist.

3. "WOKE UP THIS MORNING" (2+) Atonal in the Staind genre.

4. "TOO BAD" (2) Sounds like Part 2 of "Never Again".

5. "JUST FOR" (2+) The guitarwork is a little more meaty on this
track.

6. "HOLLYWOOD" (1+) The vocals are the only attention getter.
(A song needs more than reverb).

7. "MONEY BOUGHT" (1+) Pretty much the same guitar work
as most of the others.

8. "WHERE DO I HIDE" (2+) This one shows a little life (must be
the uptempo feel). Could be a second single.

9. "HANGNAIL" (2) Lifehouse-esque.

10. "GOOD TIMES GONE" (2) Reminds me of Bon Jovi's "Dead Or
Alive."

OVERALL COMMENTS: Has flashes of solid rockdown but more
packaged than creative. There is little differentation from song to
song. May be a better live band than in the studio.

OVERALL RATING: 2-
